Increase your lymph flow with the BIG 6
A simple routine that only takes 2 or 3 minutes out of your day that greatly improves your overall health.
Lymph flow is crucial before a workout as it helps to remove waste products from the body, maintain fluid balance, and support the immune system. It can enhance your performance and recovery time. Sounds like a no-brainer to do this simple routine prior to working out right?
Lymphing all day err’ day
So I (try to) do the ‘BIG 6’ every day. When I wake up I try to always combine it with getting ready in the bathroom. It’s just a little extra thing to do, and because it only takes me about 2 or 3 minutes. It really is simple to do whilst your at it right?
When I forgot to do it in the morning, I do it whenever I think of it. Once a day is plenty enough when you start doing this by the way. Some people find that they get very energized from this exercise. So maybe not start with it right before bedtime.
When should you give lymp extra love
Right after waking up would be perfect. But it would be awesome if you think about getting some lymph love in right before you workout. And before getting a massage too! It simply helps getting the toxins out. Because when you’re moving, in the gym for example, your lymph is moving too. But if the nodes are all stuck the lymph can’t really go anywhere. When you start with the ‘big 6’, and then go workout. The flow is flowing and your body is able to actually dump all those unwanted toxins.
How-to: the ‘big 6’ lymph exercise (video below)
It goes as follows and is very easy to incorporate in your daily routine. You simply rub, circle and pat - or one of them - all the spots listed below. Easy as that. And then you jump around whilst your toes stay on the floor, for about 30-60 seconds.
🧡 Collarbone
💛 Upper neck C1/C2
🩵 Pecs/armpit
💙 Abdominal/Navel
💜 Groin
🩷 Back/inside knees
❤️ Rebounding
Don’t get lost in details
Wondering how many strokes? How hard or how soft to pat? How big or small circles to make? As Perry always says: ‘YES’. It really is that simple. Just do it. You don’t need to bother yourself with being super peculiar about it, you just gotta do it.
No need to worry about how exactly you need to rub, pat and circle on these spots. Just do it. Daily.
Other cool (animalistic) moves to do for lymph flow
🐍 Snake Bite (Skin Stretch): This involves pinching and rolling the skin to stimulate the lymphatic capillaries just beneath the skin's surface.
🦆 Duck Walk (Inguinal): This move focuses on the inguinal lymph nodes located in the groin area. It involves a squatting movement that helps to facilitate lymphatic drainage.
🐸 Frog Pump (Axillary): Mimicking a frog's movement, this pump targets the axillary lymph nodes found in the armpits.
🦀 Crab Reach (Deep Abdominal): This exercise involves reaching over the body, similar to a crab, and it helps stimulate the deep abdominal lymphatics.
🦅 Eagle Arm (Superficial Abdominal): Resembling an eagle spreading its wings, this move aids in activating the superficial abdominal lymphatics.
🐒 Monkey Hang (Thoracic): This hanging move helps to stimulate lymph flow in the thoracic (chest) region.
